Fern Grove Community Garden

As part of our L8 Living Sustainably project we are supporting the Community Garden which has been established in Fern Grove. The council has agreed with local residents that the empty space at 40-50 Fern Grove can be used for the time being as a community garden. Local councillors, especially Cllr Laura Robertson-Collins, are spearheading the initiative.

Work on the garden is being co-ordinated by Growing Granby and the number of people who are involved is growing. GTDT is providing additional support.

During the recent heatwave there was some concern about watering the young plants but a short community meeting sorted this out with some water butts being part of the solution. In the longer term, some form of irrigation might be the answer.

If you want to get digging, or just have a chat about the garden, it is always open on Thursday evenings from 6.00pm until 8.00pm. It is also open at other times by arrangement with a key holder - contact us to find out more.
