The Tiber Young People's Steering Group are inviting the local community to a community information event on Thursday 6 November, 5.30pm - 7.00 pm at The Greenhouse Project, Lodge Lane, to inform the community about progress on the Tiber Young People Steering Group’s public square.
Tiber Young People bid for, and won, a £100,000 grant to build a public square on the Tiber site.
The scheme was chosen by the retail guru Mary Portas to be part of her UK-wide campaign to ‘save the high street’. Since then the Tiber group have also secured £20,000 backing from the Arts Council to employ artists and designers to work on the square.
Tiber have already run a series of consultations with local residents, community groups and businesses gathering as much information and feedback as they can about how a public square can best serve the whole area.
Planning permission has now been granted and Tiber wish to share with the local community the final designs for the square and explain their vision for how it will operate once completed. Tiber also wish to share the plan for the rest of the 5.5 acre Tiber site which includes a 3G football pitch, part funded by the FA, and a housing development along one side of the land.
