Allan joined us on our course in February this year, and it
was clear from the off that he had green fingers. Over the six weeks, Allan was
a pleasure to teach, asking thoughtful questions and coming up with novel ideas
for making the most of the small space we had on site.
After the course ended, Allan continued to apply his skills
at home and in his community.
We have since had more fantastic news from Allan. He has
begun working as a gardener part-time, and credits the course as a major
springboard for his career development!
Allan says:
‘After completing the course I felt more confident
particularly with regards to sowing seeds, growing fruit and vegetables and
general maintenance. I felt I had the basic knowledge to proceed with a job in
gardening and was successful in finding work a few weeks later. The course was
stated on my CV and was a definite factor in me getting the role.’
There are many ways for learners to progress after attending
the courses we run. GTDT and all of the
partners we work with always have the learner’s best interests at heart. They
are always available to support and assist the learner in taking that next
step. We are delighted that Allan has now secured employment in the
horticulture sector and we wish him the best of luck for the future!
