On Monday 24th June 2019, GTDT held its first Clothes Rail event at Geneva House Women's Hostel, based in the Kensington area of Liverpool 7.
Geneva Road Hostel is run by Riverside Housing Association and provides temporary supported accommodation for single women, aged 16 and over, that are homeless or at serious risk of homelessness. The hostel is staffed 24 hours a day and the cost to stay here will depend on each service user's requirements.
After a short term stay, residents and Geneva staff work together with local housing associations, as well as private landlords to help each service user move on to suitable accommodation, which involves three months follow up tenancy sustainment support.
Most referrals are through the Liverpool Housing Options Team or via Mainstay, although there is an option to self-refer depending on an individual's circumstances, or can be accessed through any of the One Stop shops in the city.
We were met by Bethany, a case worker at Geneva House, and she was very happy to help us set up the event. Bethany said "We are very grateful to GTDT for the clothing and toiletries you have provided, and the residents have loved taking part". "We are looking forward to your next event with us, Thank you so much".
GTDT are due to hold its 2nd Clothes Rail event on 25th July 2019, and we look forward to offering our continued support to the residents and lovely staff at Geneva House and I would personally like to thank GTDT's clothes rail team of volunteers for all the help, time and support they give to these events.
