Liverpool City Council’s Our Liverpool Team in
conjunction with Granby Toxteth Development Trust, have developed a half-day
training course for LCC staff and partners to enhance understanding and
awareness of Roma people in Liverpool.
The Roma are the largest ethnic minority in Europe. Many
Roma in Western Europe are migrants from countries such as Poland, Slovakia,
the Czech Republic, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia and the former Yugoslavia.
The course aims to increase awareness about the cultural diversity of Roma communities across Liverpool, addressing issues of discrimination and exclusion, examining the needs of Roma, to inspire and improve the services and provision delivered to communities, and to generate trust and understanding between communities and service providers.
