As you all know if you read our blog regularly we have weekly line dancing classes and organised Community Living Room activities at Riverside Development Trust.Unfortunately due to the current epidemic those activities have been put on hold. As a number of our group are living alone and are vulnerable in this current climate I have been keeping in touch to see if they need any support. At present it was good to hear that they are all in good health and great spirits.
Many of them are receiving family support while others have been identified to be included on our weekly Fair-share drop off. I have personally been overwhelmed when talking to individuals of their personal strength character and tenacity. Even though we are living through challenging circumstances we have both enjoyed our time chatting and laughing together.
Here are just a few of the quotes and activities that the group are doing to keep themselves busy and stimulated:
Getting through Doris Day/ Audrey Hepburn box sets;
Painting on Glass Bottles; Reading a book a day;
"Got nothing else in this house to wash";
"Am jigging around the kitchen practicing my line dancing moves twice a day”;
"Us old timers will get through this”;
“I had to cancel me trip to Mexico - not impressed " (Eileen aged 85 )
I will be making weekly contact with this group and will keep posted on their antics ......
