Once lockdown was announced local food businesses where forced to close and furlough their staff but some started to offer home deliveries and takeaway services to help maintain their cash flow.
One of GTDT supporters introduced us to The Reader, a cafe based up in Calderstones park, and told us how they where exploring alternative ways of trading.
We soon started to collabarate with The Reader by purchasing frozen soup which we would add to the food parcels that we were giving to the shielding and the vunerable in both the Riverside Ward and the Picton Wards.
Since lock down has eased we have still maintained our partnership working by continuing to add the soups to our weekly fareshare deliveries.
The amount of positive feedback we have recieved about the tasty wholesome soups is amazing. Everyone has loved them one lady said " I didnt know that tomato soup could taste so good"
This week we are delivering Pea and Mint soup and having personnally sampled it I can say it was absolutley delicious!
