Today, October 1st, is International Day Of Older Persons. We work very closely with our older community and they give back so much to both their peers and the community. In the last twelve months alone I have line danced with them, performed Tai Chi, learnt how to play indoor bowls and found my way around a ping pong table. During the months they were shielding I kept in touch through weekly phone calls, the delivery of food and hygiene packs and the opportunity to get involved in a mobile library club. Throughout that time they kept my spirits up and shared with me some of their life experiences quite often inspiring and humbling . Their experiences and their contribution to society is often forgotten but today will give us all the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate with them.
