Mandela8 My67 Minutes - Community Litter Pick

Yesterday evening, Tuesday 20 July 2021, as part of our My67 Minutes activities for Mandela Day, we held a community litter pick starting at Cullen Street.

GTDT enjoys participating in the Mandela8 My67 programme each year as it is not only a good way to give back to our communities but also to spread the word about My67 Minutes and all it represents.

The Cullen Street area was chosen, for this particular litter pick, as it can be a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, fly tipping and littering.  We also wanted to continue our work with this community, breaking down the barriers between cultures and building friendships and neighbourly spirit.

We started at Cullen Street and different groups worked their way along the 7 Streets.  We were delighted with the amount of young people and adults that joined in the litter pick.  Not only did we together, help make their neighbourhood cleaner, work together as a team, but we also had time to get to know each other.

We are going to continue to hold litter picks in the 7 Streets over the summer months and work with the local community to keep the area tidy.
