Tom Titanic gets a blue plaque

Last week, GTDT went along to the unveiling of a blue plaque for one of our local heroes, Tom Titanic.

Thomas William Jones, was born in Anglesey, but for much of his life lived in Jacob Street, Liverpool 8.  He served as an Able Seaman on the Titanic and was responsible for saving dozens of lives, after being put in charge of the Titanic's lifeboat number 8.  One of those survivors was the Countess of Rothes.

The story of Able Seaman Thomas Jones  and his unlikely friendship, with Lucy Noels Martha, Countess of Rothes, has truly captured our hearts.
