Community Champions Celebration Event

What a fabulous uplifting afternoon we had at the Town Hall earlier this week. We joined thirteen other organisations in celebrating the work of the Community Champions.

The afternoon started with the different cultures displaying artefacts/costumes and information. We then heard from all the community champions and organisations about how their work has impacted in building much stronger engagement with the minority communities and being more involved in two-way conversations.

"What originally started as part of Liverpool's response to Covid-19 is now part of a much bigger story"- Cllr Frazer Lake, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care.

The afternoon was rounded off by each of the organisations sharing a tradition from their culture. This ranged from harp playing, sword-wielding and a choir singing folklore stories.

The celebration provided a great opportunity to meet new partners and inspire individuals to keep working with minority communities to make positive changes.

Here are some of the wonderful displays on the day from the different organisations.

"Community Champions have helped with translating messages and dispelling myths into community languages"- Matt Ashton Director of Public Health
